I bought a this vcauum from dealsdirect: http://www.dealsdirect.com.au
The vacuum works but just when it needs a charge it will find the charger base but just blindly bump into it. I have cleaned the contacts thoroughly but to no avail. I spoke with dealsdirect and got the same prompt reply "out of your 30 day warranty period". sent an email to DD rather than just using their chatting system. I checked with DOCEP and given that I the product has not been mistreated and has simply malfunctioned replacement or repair after 6 months is reasonable (I have yet to lodge a complaint with DOCEP just queried).
After waiting 4 days, I get yet another generic reply of "sorry we only offer 30 day warranty period" etc etc. What does annoy me is they sell product that is seems (from googling and their own customer feedback) prone to failure. Its a shame because its a very nice product, when working. I recommend avoiding this product and all the eurolab electrical gear sold by dealsdirect as _all_ of it seems have a maximum life (when used regularly) of 1 to 6 months.
I posted to whirlpool regarding this as whirlpool shows up pretty high in google results if you search for "dealsdirect warranty". I also found the blog splashdownunder, Which describes a very similar situation with the same product.
Eurolab products are not of merchantable quality ie so defective that they should not have been sold, for example they don't work, they break down or they develop a serious fault.
DO NOT BUY EUROLAB PRODUCTS THROUGH DEALSDIRECT
Dealsdirect after sales service is as dodgy as you can get, though when you consider they used to be a dodgy ebay auctioneer it comes as no great surprise. Regardless of the value or the fault they will completely dodge and ignore your complaints after "their" 30 day period.
Dealsdirect, a company referred to me by my younger brother Sean. I was thoroughly impressed with their prices and even signed up for their newsletter (a rarity for me). Now after buy some basic things through the site I made the mistake of buying a eurolab product.
Eurolab, as far as the internet is concerned - does not exist. All you can find is dealsdirect link and a long line of complaints by Dealsdirect customers who were highly unimpressed with Dealsdirect after sales support. They claim they handle all eurolab manufacturer warranty directly then proceed to claim that they will only offer 30 days warranty on all items. Unfortunately for dealsdirect this is infact illegal in Australia according to: DOCEP and The Office of Fair Trading. Statutory warranty is decided on a per item basis.
"Consumers may ask for a refund if the goods purchased are not of merchantable quality ie so defective that they should not have been sold, for example they don't work, they break down or they develop a serious fault."
This is where I plan to nail these bastards, they have been made aware of the very consistent failure rate of their eurolab products. What you do see if a very profuse public apology to anyone that made a public internet complaint, with the DD employee making a sincere promise to ensure this never happens again. Also they include the usual bag of excuses they have been pushing since 2006 "Sorry new employees, It would have never happened if a senior saw your email, We have gone through a large growth as a company and this has caused some complaints to slip through the cracks". I despise companies that simply play the odds, eg:
- Sell known defective product
- 20% of customers will complain, give major run around then refund
- Other 80% bin it or goto another business since they cant be bothered complaining.
